Every trip home is strange in its own way and this trip has been no different.

I've been in Denver since Wednesday on a brief (I leave tomorrow) visit that I had planned on being more centered around visits with family rather than trying to please everyone and inevitably pissing someone off. This time I said fuck it and just went with the fam. This has been SO MUCH EASIER. Yes, people are still miffed that I am not "making time for them" but I can't help that and really these are the people that should make some damn time and come out east if they're going to get all butt-hurt about it.

Highlights of my visit so far:

Hanging out with my dad and playing Wii to the point that my arm was going numb and then playing with his spankin' new PS3. Yes, my dad has cooler toys than I do but he just retired and needs something to fill the void.

Party at Mel's in celebration of her birthday which is on Tuesday. Parties at her house are always helpful during my visits as I can wash my hands of trying to squeeze in visits with other people and put the onus back on them, where it belongs. This was no different except that this year I couldn't drink (I guess I COULD but I'm not fucking around) thanks to the antibiotics for my pneumonia. Instead I partook of some fine thc laden edibles and left it at that. Also, people are fucked when they get drunk. I swear a couple of the lesbians that were there were on crystal. I stayed far away from them as I didn't want anything to do with that mess. And what a mess it was...

Mom's retirement ceremony. Sure, it was three grueling hours long but it helped provide me with a little bit of closure. I'm still so angry about the whole thing, I mean seriously...no one in CO fought to keep the center since they thought they would get their hands on that valuable tract of Lowry land. Once the Air Force told them to eff off afterward I hope they felt shitty. 29 years she had there so that's not bad :) God knows if I could ever find anything like that in my life.

Bought a new glass piece to take home and try. I can't seem to find nice ones in MA so this is the second trip which I'm bringing paraphernalia home. Since CO is now medical marijuana central (seriously, you couldn't have done this when I lived here?) it's much easier to find well made pieces to bring back.

That's why this trip has been so successful in my eyes. I mean what's exciting about the above? Nothing. The rest of my highlights can be summed up thusly: "Hung out with X and did nothing". I couldn't be more pleased. Sadly, as with every visit time flies and today is my last full day here. I fly out tomorrow morning back to my hectic in a considerably less desirable way life and will again be left feeling a bit sad that I am in MA where everyone seems so unhappy and miserable. Hopefully there will be some sunny days as those bring out the best in people.

One can hope right?

I've got pneumonia.

WTF right? I mean seriously isn't this something that old folks get? Alas, here I am. On top of that I worked all day and will have to work again tomorrow. Hooray! Honestly though, it seems that an obscene amount of people in my office have the same thing including the CEO so what can I do right?

So now I have some awesome antibiotics and an inhaler. The inhaler is GLORIOUS and as I read HERE I can use it for doping! Sadly I can't make it up my stairs without wanting to die none-the-less run a marathon and lord knows the last thing I will ever do it lift weights. Le sigh.

So that's that for right now. My first legit update in what...years? All to whine about being ill.

OMG.

So Friday was the best night I've had in some time. Quite possibly since I moved to Boston. Thanks to the folks at Yelp I was able to attend "Off Like a Prom Dress". An 80s/90s prom. I went as Sonny Crockett, roomie as Pat Benetar meets Bea Arthur. Fantastic. Pics can be seen here: Off Like a Prom Dress. The party was so good it took a day and a half to recover. THAT good. If you haven't discovered Yelp yet you should. I love this damn site and spend a large amount of time there. Anywho, without it I couldn't have become a drunken fool in a linen suit. I mean I guess I could have but it might have been weird. What an amazing time.

Yes, I am very much alive. I am however ill. Thus, I have time to update :)

Here's the lowdown:

Quit smoking. Been two months now, and all is well.

Changed my diet. Now longer eat things I can not pronounce and feel a lot better.

Started running. Feels great and my body seems to really like it.

Now unfortunately I have a sinus infection and feel horrid so I am trolling the Internet for entertainment. Though I am late to the party I'm enjoying Twitter. Join me: www.twitter.com/SuperUber7 it's really an interesting site. I like the constant status updates feel of it.

I LOVE The New Pornographers. Their lyrics are so random but put together so beautifully.

One thing you can count on out here is that the people get cocky when their teams are doing well. Guess that didn't pay off this time.

They discounted the Giants as no threat and here we are. One bonus is now I don't have to hear about the Brady "dynasty" and how amazing they are, blah blah. 18-1, doesn't matter, doesn't count, the season was all for nothing. Suck on that.

Drawback being...I now have to hear about how we were 'robbed', and various theories on what went wrong. Bottom line, NE couldn't keep up with NY and they lost. Ta da! There's your historical moment. Now all eyes turn to the Celtics. Can they do anything cause lord knows the Bruins can't.
